Rocio Liu

Lawyer from the Catholic Pontifical University of Peru (PUCP). She holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from The University of Lima, and postgraduate studies at the University of Salamanca (Spain), University of Buenos Aires and Austral University (Argentina) and the Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT).

Rocío has more than 27 years of experience in tax advisory, tax and corporate structuring, M&As, customs counseling, tax audits, and administrative and judicial tax litigation, with special focus on natural resources, financial and telecommunications sectors. She has also participated in international tax arbitrations.

Before joining the Firm, she was the former lead partner of the tax practice at Miranda & Amado (2003-2019), and previously was a senior tax associate at Hernández & Rossello, and at Luis Hernández Berenguel Abogados (1993 to 2003).

Rocío is actively engaged in seminars and conferences organized by legal reviews, as well as by trade and representative entities such as the National Society of Mining, Oil and Energy – SNMPE, the National Society of Industries – SNI, the American Chamber of Commerce of Peru – AmCham, Procapitales, the Association of Public Accountants of Lima – CCPL, the Bar Association of Lima – CAL, among others. In addition, she regularly participates as speaker at taxation conferences organized by the International Fiscal Association (IFA) Peruvian Group, and the Peruvian Institute of Tax Law (IPDT), of which she is an active member. She is author of several tax publications in reviews and newspapers. She is a professor at the Law School of the Catholic Pontifical University of Peru since 2000, where she teaches at the undergraduate and graduate programs.

She has served as Chairwoman of the Committee of Tax Matters of Procapitales, Asociación de Empresas Promotoras del Mercado de Capitales (2014-2019). She has been a speaker at several international events such as the 12th and 11th Annual U.S. – Latin America Tax Planning Strategies Conferences, organized by the American Bar Association (2019 and 2018); The New Era of Taxation, organized by the International Bar Association – IBA Taxes Committee and the IBA Latin America Regional Forum (2017); and two editions of the Latin Lawyer Tax Summit, organized by Latin Lawyer (2017 and 2016).

She is a former member of the Steering Committee of the Peruvian Chapter of “Women in the Profession Program – WIP Peru”, promoted by the Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice (2017-2019).

Her professional career has been highlighted by Chambers and Partners (Band 1), Legal500 (Leading individual), Who’s Who, Latin Lawyer, Leaders League, LACCA Approved, IFLR, Best Lawyer, among others.
